School Day
Whole School
| Classroom Doors Open | 8:40 am |
| Registration | 8:45 am |
| School Day Ends | 3:15 pm |
Compulsory time in school per week is 32.5 hours. This is 6.5 hours per day from 8:45am to 3:15pm.
Morning and After School Routines
Morning
Parents are responsible for their children before entering the classrooms.
Children are not permitted to use any of the climbing frames before the start of the school day
Early Drop Off - To support parents with their busy morning schedule, parents may hand over their children to our staff at 8:15 am in the school hall for a daily charge of £1. This does not have to be pre-booked. All payments are made via Arbor. Parents may park on site up to 8:30 am.
Drop Off Zone - Parents may also make use of our 'Kiss & Drop' area in the mornings. Driving into our Drop Off zone allows your child to leave the car and walk into school on their own, whilst their parents drive away. Our preference is for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to walk into school with a known adult in the morning, however it is a parental choice if they wish to use the Kiss and Drop with the younger children.
Parking on site
Parking available on site before 8:30am and after 4:00pm
Parking on site between 8:30am and 4:00pm is only for families who fit one of these criteria:
- Disabled parking available at all times of the day using one of the 3 disabled bays
- Families collecting or dropping off children from medical appointments
- Member of staff
- Parents with a specific issue such as:
- Pregnant and unable to walk distances or recently given birth.
- Parent or child has an injury that prevents walking distances
- Siblings unwell and staying in the car
Hometime
The school gate opens at 3:05pm
Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 are handed over to a known adult. It is vital that parents contact the school if there is a change to the collection arrangements so our staff are aware of who is collecting your child.
Year 3 and Year 4 can be collected by an older sibling in Year 5 and Year 6 (with parental consent)
Children in Year 5 and Year 6 are allowed to walk home on their own (with parental consent)
School Closure Procedure:
Bad Weather/Travelling Conditions
Will the school close and if so when will I know?
Closing the school will be the last resort. We will inform parents via Arbor emails by 7:30am in the morning if school needs to close. This will be mainly based on the number of staff who are able to get into school.
Will there be a partial closure?
Simple answer – no. We are either open for everyone or closed for everyone.
If school is open what happens if I live out of the village and cannot get my child to school?
We will authorise absence for children who live out of the village as a special circumstance due to poor travelling conditions. Alternatively, children will be marked as present for a late arrival up to 10:00am
Will registers stay open longer in the morning?
Yes – in the event of poor travelling conditions the registers will remain open until 10:00am. We just ask parents to get children into school as early as possible.
Will online learning be provided for my child?
If school is only closed for one day then we will not provide any online learning. The children can read, practice their times tables/number bonds and maybe write or draw pictures about the snow. It is very rare we get snow these days and sometimes children just need to have some fun outside.
In the unlikely event that school will be closed for 2 or more days then work will be posted on the class pages on the website.
